Since 1907, our family has been growing the finest quality fruits and vegetables on the drumlins surrounding The Apple Shed in the Hamlet of Fairville. Third-generation owners, Gary & Barb Wells, opened The Apple Shed in 1973 as a fruit stand and cider mill. The idea of Old Goat Cidery seemed like a natural fit since we already grow apples and make sweet cider. Why Old Goat? We wanted something fun and quirky to represent a great beverage, not to mention we’ve had goats on the farm for a dog’s age and unbeknownst to many, we affectionately refer to our patriarch as the “Old Goat.” Yep, he’s fun and quirky too.
The Old Goat Cidery offers a variety of 6 tapped hard ciders that change throughout the Cidery’s season. Sample flights, pints and slushies are offered for on-site consumption, howlers and growlers may be purchased of all current hard ciders on tap. We’ve decided to branch out and try something new in 2019 – apple wines! Look for our newest additions to the bar menu Peach Apple, Cranberry Apple and Cherry Apple wines. Bottles will be available for purchase this Fall.
